Ellesmere College is a fully co-educational day and boarding school set in 146 acres of stunning Shropshire countryside . The School offers 600 students between the ages of 7 and 19 the opportunity to excel in both curricular and extracurricular engagements, made possible by an extensive range of up-to-date facilities. Conveniently situated in central England, Ellesmere is not far from both Birmingham and Manchester.
Academic Success:
With small class sizes, Ellesmere strives to provide subjects that appease all students’ academic strengths and interests. In both International Baccalaureate (IB) and A-level subjects, 50% all sixth-form students consistently achieve A* to B grades; students who study the IB Diploma usually attain the higher level at above 31 points, equivalent to three A grades at A-level.
University Destination:
Boarding and Pastoral Care for students:
Ellesmere is progressive in its thinking and offers boarding based on age group. This allows boarders to grow and learn within larger friendship groups, share more experiences together and form life-long relationships. Modern accommodation provides a top-class, cosy and safe environment for students, with residential staff on site to care for pupils at all times.
Extracurricular Activities:
A host of sports programmes and clubs are available, enabling pupils to find something to satisfy their interests, from pentathlon to golf. Ellesmere’s excellent swimming pool is very popular with pupils, as is the on-site gymnasium. Ellesmere is proud of its Arena Arts programme which promotes the arts both within the College and throughout the local community. It covers the traditional visual arts of drawing, painting and sculpture, the established performing arts of dance, drama and music as well as more modern media such as sound recording, film making and digital photography. Visiting specialists regularly hold master classes at Ellesmere, and students hone their skills further through participating in festivals and national competitions
