Boarding and Pastoral Care for students:
Pastoral care and wellbeing education at Plymouth are second-to-none and with more than 60 clubs and activities on offer, every pupil can find something to excite and challenge them whether it is to enhance an existing talent or harness a new skill. Boarding pupils have use of the school’s fantastic facilities in the evenings and at weekends, including the swimming pool, gym and sports hall. Academic staff run supervised homework sessions and are on hand to offer extra support when needed. Plymouth College takes pride in the quality of the food it offers to all pupils: all food is freshly cooked and prepared by our in-house chefs. There is a real family atmosphere running through our boarding community. The main house is College House: a row of Victorian villas, with two satellite houses - Thompson and The Haven. The houses are a modern, welcoming space, with boarders coming together in communal areas after homework has been finished to participate in a variety of fun activities.
Extracurricular Activities:
This holistic education is part of Plymouth’s DNA. Everything they do – every lesson, every form period, every activity – is a truly enriching experience for pupils and enables them to develop intellectually, academically, socially, morally and physically. Beyond the classroom, the personal development of their children is at the heart of everything they do. Through their wonderfully enriching programme of 60+ co-curricular activities, pupils learn to develop qualities such as resilience, humility and compassion, and skills, such as leadership, communication and team-working.
